Seeking an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Field Support Engineer in a contract role until 31 Dec 19 to provide key support to the EFB users and act as an extension to the Command Systems Help Desk (CSHD) for issue resolution. This has been implemented within Air Command aiming at a ‘paperless cockpit’ for all ADF aircraft, enhancing the airworthiness of aircraft operations, directly contributing to mission success and reducing the administrative and workload burdens associated with mission preparation and execution.  This role commences in June 2019 and is located at RAAF Base Edinburgh.  The duties include:

  • Provide day to day EFB SME support to operation and governance, including remote or on-site problem-solving assistance to FEG/WG EFB and Content Managers, CS Helpdesk personnel and EFB users, and including organising and delivering training to all levels.
  • Provide out of hours level 2 support to the CSHD delivering SME advice regarding Mobile Device Management (MDM) using the Airwatch console (or other MDM as applicable) and Aeronautical Information Systems (AIS) delivery applications including but not limited to Jeppesen products, OZ Runways and NGA Aero.
  • Provide SME advice in relation to ADF EFB AC SIS, HQAC SIS, BLIs, training packages (User, Helpdesk and administrator) and support documentation to reflect the extant ADF EFB capability.
  • The work will involve interstate travel, e.g. for face-to-face meetings with stakeholders, accompanied by a RAAF representative as required. Expected travel will be 1-2 trips per month.

Requirements:

  • A qualified practitioner with higher degree qualifications or relevant industry experience of more than 8 years.
  • Professional engineering qualifications are required.

Essential:

  • Understanding of modern networking, computers and operating systems; high level skills with corporate tools such as SP, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and similar applications.
  • NV1 Security Clearance.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of air C2 systems and applications (or equivalent Army/Navy systems).
  • Experience in use of air C2 systems/applications.
  • Higher HQ staff experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of Apple tablets and iOS configuration and use.
  • Knowledge and experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM), Content Management (MCM) and Application Management (MAM) products, preferably VMWare Workspace One (AirWatch) and Mobilelron.
