The Situational Awareness Domain Lead role has primary Project Management responsibility for ensuring Users are being provided with services that meet their immediate and future need. This will be achieved by understanding User needs, coordinating and managing User Requirements, supervising, coordinating and managing Strategic Partner delivery, identifying gaps and opportunities in capability, ensuring Situational Awareness development aligns with Program Steering Group (PSG) and Capability Manager Organisation (CMO) directions, planning, delivering and evaluating Risk Reduction/Pathfinding/Prototype activities, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards, supporting product management across its lifecycle and managing budgets and tracking effort and expenditure. The role will lead stakeholder workshops to confirm user needs/requirement as well as conducting trade studies, undertake capability definition documentation development and provide recommendations for materiel solutions and fundamental inputs to capability. In conjunction with PSG/CMO, planning subsequent Tranches, including major tranche priorities.

Experience/Skills Sought

As the successful candidate you will possess experience with Situational Awareness visualisation and distribution and have an understanding of the ADF Operations and deployed environments the Joint Force is required to operate in. Relevant leadership experience in Joint Headquarters (or high-level single-Service headquarters), especially in the area of Situational Awareness concept development. Leadership roles in technical delivery programs, especially software related. General understanding of ICT systems integration and experience working in environments with Commonwealth information security requirements. Ability to work with Senior Military Officials and Commercial Providers to identify, prioritise and execute on multiple competing priorities and excellent Verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualification/Skills/Experience

  • A good understanding of ADF Operations, and Command and Control systems and their usage in the ADF (fixed and deployed).
  • Good understanding of the Defence Strategic Framework, Capability Life Cycle, ADF integration in Coalition operations and development of Defence capability and systems.
  • Have worked in a joint operations environment.
  • Must hold a current NV1 security clearance to be considered.

Note: This person will be assisted by a Deputy Lead for the Situational Awareness Domain.
