GRADUATE SOFTWARE ENGINEER

• Required for an immediate start
• Based in Holden Hill initially and then Edinburgh Parks, SA
BAE Systems has recently been awarded the project to upgrade the electronic security systems at the Australian Parliament House in Canberra. To provide the on-site team with software support, we seek a Graduate Software Engineer.
As the Graduate Software Engineer, you will contribute to engineering activities to enhance the capabilities of command and control/information management software. In this role, you will contribute to the achievement of project technical, schedule and cost goals. Whilst initially located in Holden Hill, the role will relocate to Edinburgh Parks in line with the Holden Hill to Edinburgh Parks site transition.
In terms of more specific responsibilities, you will:
• Perform all software development activities, including design, code, test and debugging
• Develop documentation to support the software, including software design description, user manual and software version descriptions
• Assist with integration and test of system
• Contribute to peer review process
• Engage with software team members and other engineers within the project
• Support and contribute to a high performance, positive culture within the business.
• Ensure that all work and delivered product are in accordance with the Product Safety Policy and quality and performance parameters.
• Maintain work standards within required industry and company standards.
As the ideal applicant you will have:
• Successfully completed a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology degree
• Experience in developing applications and/or website software in either of the following languages: C# or .NET
• Knowledge of object oriented design principles including UML modelling and Software Development Lifecycle
• An awareness of configuration and change management principles
• Sound communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Whilst not essential, knowledge of C++ and experience in Microsoft SQL Server or in SOAP, Restful services is highly desirable.
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
